Kennel Gear System Compatibility Guide
Kennel Gear systems are engineered as modular, interchangeable components. This guide explains how insert blocks, yokes, bowls, pails, and mountingoptions work together so you can confidently select the correct configurationfor your installation.
Insert Block & Component Compatibility
All Kennel Gear insert blocks—metal or plastic—are compatible with allKennel Gear mounting options. For optimal durability and consistentlong-term performance, metal components should be paired with metalmounting hardware, and plastic components should be paired withplastic mounting hardware.
Component configurations are as follows:
- Stainless steel bowls use either aluminum or stainless steel yokes, each of which includes a removable insert block.
- Plastic bowls and Supply Caddies include an integrated insert block molded directly into the unit.
- Stainless steel pails include an attached insert block.
- IV poles and HD Supply Caddies also include an attached insert block.
Because insert blocks interface directly with the mounting system, all of the above components are compatible with Kennel Gear mountingoptions when properly matched by material.
Mounting Option Compatibility
Kennel Gear mounting options are designed for specific installationenvironments. Mount selection depends on the surface or structure wherethe system will be installed—not on bowl or pail type.
Surface Mount Systems
- Designed for flat surfaces that accept screws
- Compatible with wood, composite panels, sheet metal, and similar materials
- Attach using fasteners appropriate for the installation surface
Bar Mount Systems
- Designed for vertical or horizontal bar applications
- Standard systems include 3/4" long thumbscrews
- Standard back plate thickness: 1/8"
Standard 3/4" thumbscrews provide 3/8" of usable clamping depth afteraccounting for the 1/8" back plate thickness and the 1/4" minimumengagement requirement.
For bars thicker than 3/8", longer thumbscrew lengths must be selectedto maintain proper thread engagement and secure mounting.
The table below illustrates how total screw length translates intousable clamping depth after deducting the 1/8" back plate thicknessand 1/4" engagement requirement.
| Total Screw Length | Backplate (1/8") | Engagement (1/4") | Remaining Thread (Usable Clamping Depth) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.50" | -0.125" | -0.25" | 0.125" (1/8") |
| 0.75" | -0.125" | -0.25" | 0.375" (3/8") |
| 1.00" | -0.125" | -0.25" | 0.625" (5/8") |
| 1.25" | -0.125" | -0.25" | 0.875" (7/8") |
| 1.50" | -0.125" | -0.25" | 1.125" (1 1/8") |
Selecting the correct thumbscrew length ensures adequate clamping depth, secure installation, and long-term system stability.
Feeding & Watering System Compatibility
All bowls and pails are interchangeable within their respective system sizes.Replacement components are designed to fit existing Kennel Gear systemswithout modification.
- Bowls are designed for feeding applications.
- Pails are designed for watering applications.
- Mounting selection is determined by installation surface—not by bowl or pail type.
All systems utilize Piranha Lox® locking technology to provide secure,tool-free removal while maintaining fixed-position stability in kennel, transport, and facility environments.
